Greetings again, readers. I'm author #2, Aaron Jenkins, AKA Light. I'm also 17, a senior at Ursuline Highschool and will be attending Ohio State University in the fall. I've been interested in politics for about the past four years or so, with the majority of my concern coming from my AP US Government class last year. I'm one of those people who stand out in the crowd and go against the norms of conformist society, including vowing stay clear from outside influences like drugs and alcohol. I've maintained atleast a 3.9 GPA over the course of my highschool career, with my favorite subjects being Social Studies and and the Sciences. I plan on going into a medical career with a goal of becoming a Neurosurgeon.
I, along with Tim, created this blog to counteract the blatant misinterpretations of recent politics by the authors of MVRed.com. Unlike their organization, we plan to use concrete evidence to backup the entirety of the claims that we'll bring up on this site. As both young Democrats and mostly supporters of liberal ideology, we find it disturbing that such thoroughly false claims could be created by people who we are personally acquainted with and that they would insinuate that the youth of the Mahoning Valley support extreme Republican ideals. It's our duty to expose the lies of MVRed.com and to provide substantially backed information to anyone who would be interested in learning the truth.
-I'm mostly liberal on issues, but in some ways I differ from my co-author.
-I don't believe in the death penalty.
-I don't believe in Abortion under most circumstances.
-I believe that the middle class is the driving force of America, and that more needs to be done to help stop the snowballing economy on its plunge downwards.
-I believe that the environment is important, including the problem of Global Climate change, but that we have more important things to worry about at the moment that have to be completed in our own country before we can start to change the state of our entire world.
-I believe that War is a last-resort for conflicts that cannot be settled by mere Diplomacy. The war in Afghanistan had a proper cause, but the Iraq war has become nothing more than a sham. "Mission Accomplished" my ass.
-I believe that it's necessary to protect our country through governmental means.
-I believe that homosexual people should be able to do what they want with their lives, but that marriage should be reserved for a man and a woman.
-I believe that immigrants are a crucial part of a society, and that hopefully a program can be worked out where the people in third-world countries who want to come to the United States for the increasing of the quality of their lives and paychecks can become a reality.
-I believe that drugs and alcohol are indeed still a serious problem for the youth of America.
Alternative energy sources are amazing important at the moment. I believe it should be one of our main priorities.
For our blog, the only main rule is that you stay consistent with the backing of your information. Refrain from posting nonsensical things without basis and purposefully starting arguments for no reason. This is a political blog, but we're not here to go at each other's throats like rabid wolves. In the next few days we'll be updating you with information on the hotly debated issues of the week. We also plan on covering the intense Presidential race that will without a doubt change everything going on the political world right now. Until then, Sayonara.
